The thing that really stuck out to me last night was how much we relinquish our power. That kind of just made me say, wait a minute. Now I'm looking at it totally differently than I was before then. Charlene has a way of really making you do that, I think. She says she comes to shake things up. She's definitely shaking some things up, especially when it comes to me because I don't get shook easily.

She gets people moving. She gets people talking. She makes things interactive. She makes everything engaging. She was also my coach during that training time and she really spoke with me about literally anything that I was going through while the training was going on. Anything from dealing with communication to getting more parents involved to what to do for recruitment for the next cohort of parents. So she's not only an amazing leader, She’s also an amazing coach, and an amazing teacher.

The key learning I've taken away from this [Power Made Practical Cohort Kickoff] is the power of conversations just the one -to -ones and thinking about how do we work with parents to gather information gather their input and traditionally in school we send surveys but that doesn't always tell the true story so it's the power and having those one -to -ones and getting a network and a tree developed to learn more from you parents in your community.
